They would, but it's the current "balance" that's sensed rather than specific items. So, for example, someone who did a lot of terrible things and then took a lot of effort and personal risk in similar magnitude to atone might show up in that middle neutral zone, while a person who did said bad stuff and then behaved like a normal person after that would still show up negatively.
